The brilliantly accomplished 2022 first feature Aftersun announced Scottish Writer-Director Charlotte Wells as a fresh and vibrant new voice in cinema. In this single session we explore the richness and depth of her exacting, innovative craft and its articulation of emotion through the language of camera placement and angle, the interrelation of shot and cut to create an overlay of place and time, of exterior and interior worlds, and the interweaving of seemingly spontaneous fluid (yet precise) Handycam footage with an aesthetic of designed composition.
